Plan a School Supply Drive for Senderos

May 6, 2026 by Jamye Davis Subscribe for Updates

School is not even out yet, so why are we already talking about school supplies? Because you can make a huge difference for students in Guatemala by putting some thought now into hosting a supply drive! You can host the supply drive anytime, but the BEST time is in July and August when supplies are plentiful and often on sale.

So how can you host a drive without adding much to your already busy plate? Use our step-by-step guide to pull off an easy, fun, and effective collection effort.

1. Plan the drive.
Set clear goals. Choose your dates and locations for drop off.

      2. Promote the drive.
Identify who you can engage — your civic group, church (VBS or youth group), friends, neighbors, etc.
Identify how you’ll engage them: email, social media, and word-of-mouth. Share Senderos social media posts for your content or create your own and tag us!

      3. Engage supporters.
Make it easy for them to donate supplies or money for supplies. We have a helpful flyer or supporters can use our wish list at Amazon that makes it’s really simple: https://bit.ly/4tTA1w7
Thank them and let us know so we can thank them.

Your efforts provide much-needed supplies for elementary age students at the Escuela Comunitaria David LaMotte and the middle and high schoolers in the Brillaguate and El Tejar programs. Many parents cannot afford supplies or backpacks for their children, and teachers do not have extra money to spend on items for the classroom. Your generosity allows the youth to express themselves artistically with craft supplies, use calculators for higher math, and simply have access to the tools they need to succeed.

Click on the flyer that you can share and post!
