Meet our Board Treasurer

September 5, 2025 by Jamye Davis Subscribe for Updates

Here’s a peek at who’s helping with Senderos’ work behind the scenes. At our annual retreat in July, the Board of Directors elected a new Treasurer. Al Davis (pictured on the far right) is a Senior Wealth Advisor with Focus Partners in Asheville. He started Davis Financial Planning, a tax and financial planning firm in 2010 after time in various positions in banking. That firm merged with Focus Partners in 2023. Al is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and an Enrolled Agent. He has loved helping hundreds of families make good decisions about money to help them live better lives.

Al is originally from eastern North Carolina, went to Appalachian State, and the University of Tennessee for grad school. His wife Jamye spent 25 years at Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC and his daughter Katie is a senior at NC State.  He is an active volunteer with the Rotary Club of Asheville, Meals on Wheels, Haywood Street Congregation, and the UNC Asheville Foundation.  He enjoys walking and hiking around WNC, travelling, and volunteering.

Al and Jamye joined a group of Rotarians for a Senderos trip to Guatemala in 2022 and had a life-changing experience. “Seeing the desperate poverty in the area surrounding the dump in Guatemala City and the programs that give children in this area brighter days and more opportunities for their futures was incredibly moving,” Al shared.  “We spent a significant amount of time at the David LaMotte School meeting the students, the teachers, and many of the parents of the students.  We visited several families where they live in very simple “homes” often made of concrete blocks and sheet metal roofs with dirt floors.  Despite difficult living conditions the families were happy, joyful, and appreciative of their children being able to get an education at the free school right in their neighborhood”.  After visiting Guatemala Al and Jamye decided to become more involved volunteering to support the Senderos programs in Guatemala, and they eventually joined the board. Al is thrilled to share his expertise by serving as the Board Treasurer.
