Rotary District 7670 Trip to Guatemala January 13-23, 2027

Trip Application

Join fellow Rotarians on a trip with Senderos founder and Rotary Peace Fellow David LaMotte in Guatemala for a 10-day immersive journey (January 13-23, 2027). Designed to build meaningful connections between Rotarians and deepen their understanding of Guatemala’s culture, history, and communities, participants will travel through Guatemala City, Lake Atitlán, and Antigua, engaging with local partner programs focused on education, health, and more. This is not a typical service or tourist trip, it’s an experience centered on relationships, learning, and shared humanity, with opportunities to see Rotary’s work firsthand and reflect together along the way.

Each day, we will have debriefing time, led by David, with an opportunity to process the day together, and ask any questions or raise any concerns folks may have. David will also bring along a travel guitar, and may share a song or two in the evenings.

Unfortunately, due to the infrastructure of Guatemala, we cannot guarantee access to everyone with mobility issues, but are sensitive to these challenges, and will make an effort to include everyone to the degree that it is possible. Please let us know what your challenges might be when you apply for the trip.

Cost:

The trip fee includes all expenses in Guatemala, including meals, lodging, transportation, and some financial support for the work of the projects we will visit. Please note, the trip fee does not cover the cost of airfare, which will be arranged by each participant (we will offer guidance on booking tickets so that we arrive at roughly the same time).

The per-person price for the trip will be $2,000 for a shared room if you are traveling with a friend or companion or $2,500 for a single room.

We will be staying in various accommodations, ranging from quite simple (a convent in Guatemala City) to the more upscale Posada de Santiago.

The proposed travel itinerary can be found here and the application for the trip is available here.

If you have questions about the trip, please check out of FAQ page and if you have further questions, please reach out to Sarah sarah@senderosguatemala.org.
